Indoor
meetings, at the Visitor Centre, Shipley Country Park, near Heanor
are held periodically. These meetings are informative and pleasant
social occasions. They include talks by visiting lecturers and
members, slide shows and discussion evenings.
The Sociey has one of the busiest event calendars in the UK. Field
meetings are held usually between May and September, in Nottinghamshire
and Derbyshire. These stimulate site recording and provide an
opportunity to learn field techniques and identification skills. Trips to insect related events throughout the UK are also organised.
The society publishes a colour newsletter containing current insect news. A separate Journal
is also produced containing information about recording methods, hints
and tips, recording schemes and book reviews. It also features
reports by Recording Officers of notable records and observations
of most insect orders.
Advice
on identification and other subjects is available.
